In lesson we watched U2's performance at Glastonbury in 2011. We analysed the different shot's, positions and movements that were used. From the establishing shot to the last shot used the camera team use a wide variety of shots to make the audience fell like they are there.
The establishing shot is a extreme long shot showing the audience that they are at Glastonbury. The first 29 seconds of the performance introduced each member of the band playing their own musical instrument. Each member of the band was shot from a low angle to make it seem like the audience was looking up at them to connote their status and to also make it seem like a POV from the audience.
There are a lot of crowd shots throughout the video. Showing their reactions and facial expressions. This makes the audience at home feel like they are actually at the festival and allows them to put themselves into the shoes of the people shown in the crowd. There are also a lot of POV shots which are obstructed by objects this gives the audince a sense that they are their view is obstructed by other members of the audience. This also gives the audience at home the sense of feeling like they were at the festival with the use of these point of view shots. A lot of the cuts and shots used are also in time with the music we hear which makes the performance and video flow nicely.
Lastly, the final shot used is the same shot as the establishing shot used at the beginning of the video. We see the camera pan out and then go to the helicopter high angle shot and we can see the stage and the crowd as well as the surrounding environment. This is a very clever way of ending the video because it allows the people at home to relate to the performance as a whole.
